ELEVEN BEAUTIFUL PUPPIES WERE BORN TO LIL ON WEDNESDAY,
MAY 26th, 2010
THERE ARE SIX BOUNCING BOYS
AND FIVE BEAUTIFUL GIRLS
ALL ARE DOING WELL NOW, BUT WE HAVE HAD A TOUGH GO OF IT.
LIL HAD DIFFICULTY GIVING BIRTH BUT WAS A TROOPER, THE ELEVEN WERE BORN IN JUST OVER 12 HOURS.
UNFORTUNATELY 48 HOURS LATER LIL BECAME GRAVELY ILL AND WE ALMOST LOST HER. BUT THANKS TO THE VET(AND TO GOD) SHE IS STILL VERY MUCH WITH US.
HOWEVER,
DUE TO THE MEDICATION NEEDED TO SAVE HER LIFE SHE HAS BECOME OFF LIMITS TO HER PRECIOUS BABIES -- SHE IS NOT ALLOWED TO NURSE BECAUSE OF THE TRANSFERENCE OF ANTIBIOTIC TO THE PUPPIES!!!
SO WE ARE NOW THE SURROGATE MOTHERS TO THE WONDERFUL, GROWING, SLEEPING, EATING AND PEEPING PUPPIES.
|
On June 6th, Lil's half sister, Violet burst into the bedroom where we were bottle feeding the puppies. She jumped into the whelping box, rolled on her back, showed her belly. Here breasts had a small amount of milk since she was going through a false pregnancy. We gave her a puppy, she immediately began to clean and nurse it. We gave her more, she did the same.
Violet joined us as the third surrogate mother, never having enough milk to properly feed them but enough to satisfy the suckling a puppy needs. WHAT A BLESSING FOR THE BABIES.
